Didn’t need the rain

The past week has been horrendous with all the rain we received. We could not do any shaping or top soiling to any holes but we did get bunkers lined and drained. The 2nd, 6th and 14th are all completed with the 3rd, 16th and 13th just needing turf. Over the next 2 weeks we hope to have just the 4th and 5th to complete.

Irrigation have finished installing pipe’s and irrigation heads, with only inputting to be down on the computer system. The new system has been flushed through and is ready to be primed for the new season ahead.

Pathways are nearly finished with only the 16th to do. One more weeks work and these contractors will be moving out.

Not long to go

Firstly i must apologies for not putting any info on here over the christmas period. There was no turf laid, so it was really hard to see the bunker shapes with the camera. We are now 11 weeks into phase 2 and have had some great weather conditions, to carry out the works.

Irrigation will be finished putting in all the pipe and sprinklers by Friday. All that will be left to do is finishing wiring and cable joint. This is 8 weeks ahead of schedule which is great, so good time for the ground to settle, where pipe has been pulled in.

Pathways are just over 75% finished, which again is down to the weather conditions. We hope to have the pathways finished 6 weeks ahead of schedule.

Profusion have shaped 7 holes with only 4th & 15th left to do. 5 holes have been lined and drained ready for soiling and revetted turf. The 2nd & 6th holes will be finished this week and are really looking good.

Week 7

We are up to week 7 and are ahead of schedule at this point. The contractors will be finishing for christmas on Tuesday 20th December, with irrigation being completed on 6 holes. All piping, sprinklers and valve boxes are all complete in these 6 holes, with just 15th, 4th and 5th to finish. The weather has played a great part in being so far ahead at this point. unfortunately, the irrigation cannot carry any work untill Profusion have shaped more holes.

Profusion have shaped all the new bunkers on 2nd, 3rd, 6th, 13th, 14th and 16th and installed drainage to them. They still have a lot of work to do with liner, top-soil and turfing to carry out. The course will really start to take shape at the end of January when holes will start to be finished and contours of the bunkers will really be able to be seen.

Pathways are really looking good and am very pleased with their work this year. They will be laying mainly concrete this week and hope to get the 4th green to 5th tee finished. The paths that will have been finished with concrete by the end of this week are 2nd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 14th and 15th.

Week 5

The weather has really been on our side the past couple of weeks, which has meant great progress for irrigation and pathways.

Irrigation have completed instilation of all pipe work and sprinkler heads, into 4 holes. The ground conditions have been perfect for pulling pipe in, with very little mess being made. We are hoping to have only 3 holes left to install irrigation after christmas.

Pathways are also way ahead of schedule with 60% of the work done already. The weather has allowed them to concrete most days but the frost over the past few, has held them up a little.

Profusion have shaped bunkers on 4 holes and installed drainage and liner to them, but finishing off and turfing will not take place untill January. We have shaped a big grass run off into the greenside bunker on 13th, which spreads across the front half of the green. This is a change to the plans which I felt was needed for the second shot in. It is hard to see how good this looks from the photo, but i really think this will improve (make harder) the hole.

Feel free to have a walk around the holes we are working on, to see how they are taking shape. I am always about if you need to discuss any of the changes or an update on progress.

Phase 2

We are now 4 weeks into our second year of the project and weather has been on our side for the first 3 weeks, but the past week has been horrendous. We started on the 2nd hole and will be then going to 6th,13th,16th,3rd,14th,15th,4th,5th. Again we will be re-shaping and moving all the bunkers, installing new irrigation and installing new concrete pathways.

Pathways team have really pushed on and have dug out and stoned 4 holes, with three concreted and finished already. A few rain showers have stopped us from concreting more holes but hopefully we will have the dryest winter on record this year!!!!!!

Irrigation have pulled in all the main lines piping for the 9 holes and have completed installing all irrigation from tee to green on the 2nd and 13th hole, and will be starting 6th hole today. Both irrigation and pathways are ahead of schedule.

Profusion are on schedule and have shaped all the new bunkers on the 2nd and 6th holes. New tees have been constructed on both holes with soiling and root zone still to be finished. Drainage has been installed in all these bunkers with top soil and turfing of these bunkers starting next week, so both holes should be taking shape for you to see.

Taking shape

We have been very lucky to have a very dry week last week, which has made us really crack on and back on schedule. Profusion have finished shaping all the bunkers with just drainage, liner and turfing to be done. They still have 4 tees to construct on 1st,8th, 12th and 17th. We are also altering the 11th green this week and putting a slight mound in the middle of the green at the back. We will be stripping part of the green and raising up in conjuction with the mound at the back of the green, to add more thought to your shot in.

Pathways have been finished with just soiling up of the edges and raising of areas to be done.

Irrigation only have 2 more fairways and 1 green left to pipe, but still have a lot of wiring and finishing to be done on all 9 holes.

Back on schedule

Finally had a dry couple of weeks which has aloud us to catch up with prepping and turfing of some holes. The 7th hole is now finished with just some clearing up to be done around the green. Profusion have now completed 7th, 8th, 9th with just a small amount of turfing to be done on 1st and 18th. They have finished shaping the bunkers on 11th, ready for lining and preping for turf. They should be starting the 10th hole next week.

Lakes & Greens who are installing the irrigation system have been able to finsh installing pipes and sprinklers into holes 1st, 7th, 8th, 9th and 18th.

Pathways are ahead of schedule, with mainly  concreting to be done. Some of the 10th path didn’t set in time, so had to be drilled out and started again.

2 MONTHS TO GO

After another bad week of weather for us, but we have still managed to carry on shaping bunkers, installing irrigation and digging out the pathways. Unfortunately turfing and prepping areas for turf have been our biggest problem with the rain. This week we hope to have 1st,7th and 18th all prepped and ready for turf.

Praying for no more rain

Now christmas is over and contractors are back on site, the weather has really been against us. Luckily ATBone worked through the christmas period to get the lake edges finished, which i think you will agree look really good. We are just waiting for the areas to dry out so we can then top soil and turf 7th & 8th. A pipe has been added to the 8th lake that runs into the small stream between 1st & 8th. This has been put in, to stop the water coming over the sleeper wall which it has done most years. There is only a small fall from the lake to the stream, but this should be adequate enough for what we want to acheive.

Profusion are finishing prepping the 9th, ready for turf next week. We have decided that the 10th is to wet to start work on, so we are starting shaping the bunkers on 1st & 18th this week. Hopefully by next week we should have 7th, 8th, 9th, 1st & 18th starting to look prepped and ready for turf to finish.

Pathways are on schedule with 7th, 8th & 9th all concreted with the 10th hopefully finished next week.

The irrigation has started on the 9th with cable and pipe being ploughed into the ground with minimal disruption. They will then be moving 0nto 7th & 8th, then to the 1st & 18th. They have a lot to install with over 1200 sprinkler heads to go in.

4TH WEEK UPDATE

We have had a very wet week which has put us back on turfing the bunkers on 9th. Luckily we are ahead of schedule on the lake edging and on schedule for the pathways. All contractors are not working christmas week, but all will be back starting on the 4th Jan. Irrigation will start on the 4th so more machinery will be arriving at the start of that week. Below i have up loaded all the pictures from the 7th, 8th and 9th of the work we have achieved so far.
